Yup, for me too, S/H now comes down to airport location/time of flight. Cost would only come into it if BA charge silly money for a ET flight as they occasionally do.
Avios can be devalued at any time, and BAEC benefits are now so flakey, it's not worth taking any of that into account when booking.
