I'll probably get flamed for this but wow $880 for ATL-MAA....that's just ridiculous and no carrier is making money on that. Congrats to Qatar and Jet for carrying the horrendous yielding passenger. For Delta to even be within $200 is quite surprising as they likely have to pay another airline a prorate for the portion that is not on Delta so they could lose easily lose $200+++ on such a ticket...not to mention that on an itinerary of over 8,000 miles each way they would be earning less than 5 cents a mile (almost MR worthy). This just demonstrates to me why DL is axing AMS-BOM this spring - the route must be a complete dog if these are the fares being offered in the market. India seems to have a lot of demand and volume --- but at really really low fares that even in the current fuel environment don't seem like they would be profitable.

Sounds like the OP got a great deal and if Qatar was an option, I would have taken them in a heartbeat - they have a great product and connecting in Doha is pretty easy. I've never flown Jet but Id guess they are solid too - if you don't care about miles and elite benefits I think choosing based on price and schedule is the smart thing to do - so sounds like you made a great choice.
