I'm currently a long stay guest in a Novotel in Germany and a gold member (almost exclusively earnt in this property). I've just tried to extend my current stay by 5 days and was told by the front desk 'not possible' due to a trade fair during the period I want to extend to, although not one of the 'major' trade fairs during which the room guarantee doesn't apply. Im curious about how solid the gold guarantee usually is, or if I should make other plans?

Slightly O/T too but I stay on a corporate rate. I've been reading about the Accor Favorite Guest Business card which would cost me EUR170. Does anyone know if I'd get a discount over and above my normal corporate rate, and if so what that discount % would be? As I stay with Novotel so much it could be worth paying for the card to get the discount?
