It's a good idea to have alternate cards on hand, as suggested before, as cards aren't mailed to addresses outside the US, and it'd be a pain to have cards sent to an address other than these that's already on the account.
I think the higher limit you call for is either temporary or they switch the primary bank for you and so the transaction limit decreases to 8 but your atm withdrawal limit becomes 1k/day.
