The PE crew is definitely 'shared' with the Y crew and is simply based on position assigned for the flight. I remember my friend complaining to me because she hadn't had training yet for PE but they put her on Y2 for a flight.

Anyway with regards to JFK-HKG or any ultra long haul for that matter, I think PE and Y are pretty much the same tbh... For flights that long, you cannot be comfortable without getting a stint of good sleep, which is hard to do without a J/F seat. Sure the PE seat is miles better than Y but does it let you 'comfortably rest' during a flight? Answer is no on that...

I think PE is a great product for medium to slightly long haul flights (say a daytime flight out of SYD to HKG) but when it comes to ultra long hauls, I reckon its a different story altogether.
