The correct strategy would be to get the Amex Gold Rewards FIRST, with $0 FYF and 25,000 MRs.

Then use that to self-refer to get the Plat Rewards, and by doing so you get the 60,000 MRs as a referral signup. PLUS, you get the referral points as well.

Edit: Sorry....meant to say that you should ONLY do this if you don't mind to take two credit hits on your credit file (dropping your score). You might get away with just one pull, if you apply for the second card shortly after getting the first, but no guarantees.
