Agree with above statement. It sounds like a good idea, but really is way too much hassle for what you get; not to mention you are spending $150-200 per person to take two plane hops (and enjoy TSA twice).
Consider either starting or ending your trip at one of the other islands. Maybe fly to Big Island for last 2 or 3 days, and then get flight back to home leaving from Kona (KOA).
Or, just stay in Oahu and find something new to do. For variety and quality of beaches, Oahu can't be beat.
