How does the lounges compare ?
I'm going on week of R&R with wife and 2 kids in February, and is booked in a 1 room appartment at the Grosvenor House because of the lounge and the chance of upgrade to a larger appartment/suite.
Rates are roughly the same with the Westin about 20% higher.
I would have checked if children are welcome in the lounge at Westin after 6 p.m. they are not at Le Royal Meridien Beach resort. I know many other hotels in Dubai do not give access for children, or only during certain times of the day.
I have not stayed at the Westin, but the lounge at Grosvenor house is very family friendly with a separate area for children. I also like the convenience of having an apartment while traveling with children, e.g. washing machine/dryer.
It will take you less than ten minutes to walk to the Le Royal Meridien, and you do not have to cross the street with a lot of traffic. (Take to the left and the left again when you walk out of Tower 2, then cross under the bridge with all the traffic.)
Do the new properties have common pools and beach?
