Huge jump in ex-UK MFU redemption rates

Rang Etihad Guest to upgrade MAN-AUH next week (Y to C). Was shocked to find the latest rates for upgrades (40,667 or 47,556 miles depending on booking class).

Some years back an upgrade was 27,000 miles + GBP60. More recently it was c. 27,000/34,000 miles + GBP60. Now it is more than a straight Business redemption (c. 45,000 miles + GBP150).

Etihad say this is due to high passenger duties ex-UK. I imagine LHR-AUH has similar high rates but I haven't checked.

Plusgrade seems to have gone up too. Minimum bid MAN-AUH is GBP 530. I seem to recall it was around GBP 430 in 2014.

The only good news is that AUH-MAN upgrade rates haven't changed (still 27,223/34,112 miles).

Are there any other routes with this level of miles inflation in 2015?
