In this case I would actually believe AC...this happened to me as a 75K before when requesting an upgrade FRA-YYZ. Expert Flyer showed R0 but AC allowed me to upgrade into R on the spot (this was one year ago). Not sure if it was a glitch, or a small unpublished benefit of holding a seat for elite upgrades under certain conditions. I somehow think it's the former though :-)
