I was on an over weight ERJ flight from CHS-DFW on 1-2-15. I was offered a $500 voucher when I checked in and yes I jumped on that. When I was in the gate area the agent was offering $300 on the PA system and some people took that.

I am EXP so I do not know if that helped with the offer I got. It was a win-win for me, I routed thru CLT via US and got upgraded on both legs and it only cost me 4 hours. The others that took the $300 at the gate were on my flights but flew in coach.
