I disagree -- I have to imagine the DL knowing they were holding their flight cancelled your Singapore reservation.
At any rate, DL deserves 4 Thumbs Up here (even though you would have appreciated a free FC ticket). They protected/accomodated you on another airline's equipment so you wouldn't have a misconnect and then when they were in a position to hold their flight, did the right thing from a BUSINESS standpoint and put you back
