The Indian consulate in Chicago willl be giving you a visa valid for six months if you submitted everything appropriately for any kind of short-term tourist visa. The validity period is from the date of visa issuance, so you should be fine. They won't give you a one month visa. They'll give you a visa valid for entry within six months of date of issuance.
