I'm looking at a Japan trip during cherry blossom season this year - turns out the kids break coincides with the first week of April so timing should be pretty good. That's all fine and good, except I'm a bit late to the party when it comes to Kyoto lodging. Hiiragiya looks great and I'd love to go, but there doesn't seem to be availability when looking at online tools. That said, those don't seem to be directly related to the ryokan, so I'm wondering if there's a better way to verify and/or find a slot that is available in a 10-day period. Calling them directly - will there be someone English speaking available?

Other options were RC Kyoto (booked), Westin Kyoto (booked), Hyatt Regency (booked).. you get the picture. I haven't exhausted ryokans but the more luxury ones appear to be booked as well. Only thing I've found that could work is the St. Regis in Osaka, but that's a bit away, and not exactly my preference.

Any tips appreciated.
