I would be surprised if you could find that as a single itinerary.
In terms of interlining the baggage, probably not, although since the flights starts with Virgin America, it would probably be a better question for that forum (as it would be whether Virgin America has an interline agreement with Alaska, and whether they would do so or not).
55 minutes is also tough in that if run into any issues, you could have a problem. Note that at LAX Virgin America operates from Terminal 3, and Alaska operates from Terminal 6, and that does require leaving security and re-entering.
