an extra t-shirt and sweater and pair of jeans can be helpful also ... if nothing else, they make the backpack a bit more comfortable if you need to use it as a pillow on the terminal floor for a couple hours
While you're at it, add undies and socks. I once booked a same day run LGA-ATL-LGA figuring I'd hang in the club for a couple of hours and go home. No sooner had I arrived down there when they closed LGA
for the rest of the day for thunderstorms!
