From what I've read recently, the US gov't is not enforcing any "law" barring its citizens from traveling to Cuba from 'gateway' airports. As long as a reason is indicated, it's no problem.

My only issue at the moment is purchasing through a 3rd party Canadian website, as they do not accept US credit cards...
