A couple questions about flying on AS. It's been a few years since I flew with them and the industry changes fast...

First, do paid upgrades to first class earn you those 75% extra elite qualifying miles? Currently booked for a SEA to PHL and back with just about an hour on the ground. I'm booked into a coach R fare BUT if there happens to be a first class seat open, $100 might be worth it to bump up, especially if that earns me an extra ~1800 miles toward elite status.

Second, on the Beyond Entertainment flights has anyone used the GoGo Wifi? How is the speed on it? I know it'll be shared among everyone else and it's going to slow down based on what people were using, but is it decent? I was hoping it was the 2ku roll out but I don't think that'll happen for anyone till late 2015... All I remember is using it with Delta like a year and a half ago and it was maybe ~15kB/sec if that... Like a minute or so to load a web page like flyer talk... Facebook didn't even load well...

Third... What do you guys fly with when doing a MR? I was honestly planning on taking no more then myself, wallet + ID and such, iPhone 6+ and MAYBE iPad. That's it. I know not to check a bag, but do you normally fly with at least a carry on or backpack? I'm kinda worried it might look odd for me to fly ~2500 miles with no luggage at all... Would rather not have TSA or a GA single me out as not fitting into the pack.
