In the end sometimes it's just better to pay for a ticket as well.
I've still never been to London, it's always too pricey IMO and I don't really have a reason other than wanting to go. Whenever I look via points the points will be stupid low (in comparison to other destinations) but the fees will be like $800, when the paid fare is only $1000. Might as well pony up for the ticket and spend the points elsewhere.
That said I'm interested to see what it comes down to when the SE no YQ feature kicks in. I'm assuming we're all kinda sitting around waiting on that, makes no sense to me now to book for NOV or something when if I wait 8 weeks I'll save the YQ (obviously for some routing it won't matter and I could lose the seats I want). I just hope they don't crank up the points cost to offset the YQ "losses".
