Well, it looks like I might be doing a mileage run in late April. Now the question is, should I go to Shanghai or Hong Kong. Here are the details: I'll be flying United from ORD. Both tickets cost about $850 and are upgradeable using either Systemwide Upgrades or 25,000 miles per way. Neither would technically be mileage runs since I plan to stay at the destination for about a day and a half. To Hong Kong, I would actually buy a ticket to Singapore and stop in Hong Kong for the day and then fly on to Singapore, and then 7 hours later, fly back to Chicago.

Here's my dilemma. Not having really been to either of these cities before, which one has more touristy/interesting stuff to do. I'm fascinated with Chinese history (having minored in it in college). Can I get a guide to take me around either city and how much would that cost if it is available? Have people had problems getting upgraded on the SFO-Shanghai/Shanghai-SFO flight since there's only one a day? Any other info would be helpful.
