Bumped from flight due to weather delay?
I couldn't find any relevant information on what to do here, so I'm trying out a new thread.
In December I took a flight from BOS to IAD on United. It was delayed 1 hour, so they gave me a "just in case" itinerary since there was a tight connection. Before takeoff, the delay was adjusted down to 30 minutes, which was tight but I could make.
So we're about to land in IAD, and they are reading all the connecting gates. For SAV, my destination, they just say "see the agent." I get off the plane with 15 minutes to make the next flight, and they say I can't try to make it. Apparently they had already given our seats away, so we were SOL. But because it was a weather delay, we were offered no compensation or place to stay the night. I ended up cancelling and driving the rest of the way to SAV.
After using the email complaint form I was offered over the phone, I was given some miles since they don't compensate weather delays. A second response just had the definition of "overbooking."
Do I have any other options besides sending emails? Should I just keep at it, or give up since I have been shut down thus far?
