And, as I'm sure you observed, changing a door lock battery isn't as simple as changing the battery on a TV remote. The labor costs to check door locks would be prohibitive and it would needlessly inconvenience guests.
So, there is no led light or other indicator that the battery is low? No record of when the battery was installed and it's time for a new one? The only indicator of a problem is when the guest is inconvenienced and complains?
