Baggage handling and currently gate control are a mess in YYC

3 transborder flights transiting through YYC in past 3 months, missed 1 had to overnight in YYC, made connection on other by 8 mins, but they held plane 10 mins,. The 3rd I made by 20 mins,

Time allowed 1 hr 13 mins to 1 hr 50 mins

Dumbest one ground control put us on a gate that would not accept the plane, 1/2 hour on Tarmac then towed to another gate. I was in row 2, pilot at one point said YYC had worst ground operation in Canada the past few years hated landing there. Made connection as they had unloaded bags so they were waiting in customs transfer area.

I have waited 10 mins to 30 for bags at customs in YYC

If your flight late even 15 mins you will be stressed in YYC, 1-1/2 hours is almost mandatory when dealing with transiting in YYC . If I go through there again before they finally finish their construction in 2016 flight will have 2 hour transit time min
