Thanks everyone for the answers, which confirm what I suspected all along, but was not entirely certain about.

On the subject of Skymiles, why do I have 100,000 more SkyMiles than I have in Million Miles?

Is the 100,000 mile difference made up of Skymiles that are redeemable, but were not actually flown?

Why does my Million Miler balance go down when I redeem award miles? If the Million Miler balance is intended to be an accrual of only BIS miles, and is not an actual redeemable mile balance like SkyMiles are, why would my Million Miler balance deplete on par with the number of miles I spend for award redemptions?
