Very long time lurker, 8 years, first post. I am posting a potentially interesting question to you all. What, if anything, could I do with a full fare long haul J class ticket that I had to buy last minute for a LHR to JFK flight? Should I try to get a discounted fare bucket first class ticket when I get to checkin? Should I try to shift to a lower fare class once my plans are firmed up? Maybe an AUP?

Thoughts and suggestions for getting the most out of this overly priced situation is greatly appreciated.

And for those who are curious, yes, I will be taking a bag of crips from FLounge. The ones on board are far too small and I've already spent far too much money.
