The irony, from my personal point of view, is that I agree with the comment! From a local-market and reasonably-priced-restaurant perspective, the Vendome area is also practically the Sahara. Close to some chic stores, though.

BTW, that's how we grocery shopped in NYC when I was a kid: butcher, fruit stand, fish market, etc. Maybe that's why it feels to me like a trip report trying to make something as mundane as grocery shopping seem fancy.
