I've been reading and reading and reading about the Amex Platinum card, trying to determine if I will benefit from the hefty annual fee.

One thing I am unclear on -- when I am traveling with my spouse, are many of the convenience benefits (like TSA, re-entry, access to lounges only for the primary account holder? (I assume yes).

Can you get a second card to cover benefits for the spouse? I'm so confused. And I am really trying hard to understand this all.

As I am reading, it would seem that actually using/enjoying the many touted benefits requires a great deal of active participation by the card-holder, so it is a commitment to get the $450's worth out of it.
