Where do they prohibit it? I can't see anything written anywhere in BA's terms and conditions that says they prohibit it.

Two separate tickets, if one has a minimum stay restriction, you can't take the return on *that* ticket until the time has passed, they can't stop you buying another ticket in the opposite direction before *that* return.
