As an aside, while French Polynesia is stunning, the Cooks are just about as beautiful, much less expensive and everyone speaks English. A mix of Rarotonga and Aitutaki is pretty darned close to Papeété and Bora Bora.
I booked a cruise out of PPT. The only choice now is Hawaiian with a full day and most of the night around PPT. Delta/Air France and Air Tahiti are the only non stop flights.
