If I might add to the list of concerns: I only do carry-on. For me, that means rolling cloths and stuffing it full. I sometimes need to put my knee on my case to zip it closed. I also use the expansion zipper as a compression zipper on occasion. I assume that I am not the only one. Obviously you could not do that with this design. And even if I did not, I would be afraid the door would get jammed if contents shifted to one side or the other.
