This would be a real penny pinching move. The savings to BA would be minimal. The bad feeling far greater.
It is a wonderful taster opportunity for potential higher fare / potental status passengers. (I.e. driving business)
You could say that, but then how many GCH used the Open Doors Policy - I know I didn't, but it was taken away. How many used the free Avios cancellation - I used it but didn't abuse it, and that's been taken away. The logic of cost-saving vs bad feeling created isn't an equation that BA accountants seem to be able to make....
