Even worse, they made me pay both tax and tip on breakfast, contrary to Gold Passport rules. I tried to argue with them about this, but they said I was wrong. I left in a bad mood. I can probably get the money back through Gold Passport customer service, but it will be a pain.
I'm not sure why people say that Diamond members are treuated well here.
Besides those frustrations, I really like the resort and the rooms. Breakfast only at Corn Maiden (included in my rate) and it was just 'ok'. They didn't have a buffet. On a previous trip, the cafe in the middle of the hotel had a very nice buffet. I will be hesitant to go back after this.
edit: I forgot to mention that I did not get a room upgrade - just a standard room.
The usual practice is to charge Diamonds (not on award stays) a discount of $5 on the resort fee to compensate for the benefits that Diamonds get already.
Regarding breakfast, my question is whether the RC was open or not. If it wasn't, and the breakfast was in place of, then tax and tip should have been covered. If the club was open but you had breakfast in the restaurant because your rate covered it, then the rate rules govern regarding tax / tip (Diamonds do not automatically get tax / tip covered for breakfast just because of status - only when there is no lounge serving breakfast).
