It seems maybe this kind of security has never happened to them before except in AMS. If you choose to fly elsewhere then don't think it won't happen to you there.
I've had the copper thing a couple of times at terminal 2E in CDG. Nothing similar at 2F, just 2E ..... and no, the security agent could not explain the difference, just huffing that this was THE standard.
