It does show your position on the map.

It transfers to Google Maps for Navigation, and you can navigate to a POI (again, through Google Maps). I don't know about Apple Maps.

It is essentially a viewer, but you can do some editing. The editing is cumbersome.

Honestly, it is free. Give it a try. If you don't like how it works, uninstall it. No harm, no foul.
