Hi,

Had a 1 night stay at the Hilton Mainz City property.

Location: As mentioned, closest train station is the Hauptbahnhof. Without too much luggage, it is about a 10 mins walk (if you don't get loss - as you will come to a rather complicated intersection). In my opinion this property is close to the city center (incld the old part of town) and not too far from the Rhine river. In my opinion, location wise (without a car) this would be the property to choose as it is close to wherever you need to be within the city limits.

Check-in/Property: Promptly checked in without any issue. The property is in my opinion very similar to a lot of Hilton's in Germany, rather old school interior. I don't believe I have seen any Hilton property in Germany that I have been too with a modern touch. Lots of wood and dark colours used, therefore it gives you the old type dark interior feeling. The exterior is the same. Don't get me wrong, things do function, except that it is not the modern or fresh look ( in case you are expecting that).

Room: Was upgraded as Gold to a Deluxe corner room with a view towards the city and river. Same comments on the interior - typical German Hilton interior and furniture. The amenities included 2 free bottle of water and a Nespresso coffee machine. Welcome gift was a plate of fruit. The windows in the room can be opened which might be needed for some to get some fresh air as I could not get to reduce the heater temperature lower.

Bathroom/Toilet: Again typical German Hilton layout. Shower was good with good temperature and pressure.

Breakfast: Very good layout and the best is that it is until 1300 (1pm) - not sure if this is only in the weekend. Staff are helpful. The dining area (again old school interior). There is a view to the courtyard which seems to be part of some old town architecture.

Staff/General: As expected, very friendly staff. Hotel in general for the price paid is good value. Did not find any fault from my stay. Planning to return to Mainz to really visit the city when shops are open to soak up the atmosphere (was there on a Sunday - so everything was closed).

Cheers!
