So here's what I think is going on. United first moved the SFO-ICN flight from 10:50 AM to 10:25 AM. That generally didn't break the connection because the 6AM BOS-SFO flight got in at 9:30AM. So it was 55 min cxn which is legal.
But here's the key.
The 6AM BOS-SFO flight was originally on an A319. On some days it got moved to a 737. The 737 flies slower, so it is blocked to get in at 9:43AM. And that breaks the connection.
So basically United is hosing your itinerary because they are putting a slower aircraft on the route. I changed to a different day where the 6AM BOS-SFO flight is serviced by a 757, and sure enough, that's a legal -- albeit tight -- 50 minute connection.
I wonder if Jeff lays in bed at night dreaming up new and innovative ways to screw us.
Thanks for the explanation. I know I can run to the gate; not so sure my luggage will... Flying, sadly, has become less fun.
