Many of the longer trips don't have the same issue as both directions are during different meal periods. It would be nice if like coach. Direction of travel dictates what the meal is sold.

I don't think you can buy the perishable meals from coach until coach has had their selection. At that point they can be given away for free to F passengers. They will sell you the snack boxes at any time.
