is the word stance unusual when referring to buses and just wondered why it made you smile ?
I wonder if it's because even although the word is well known it might not be one often heard in everyday talk?
I remember as a youngster taking the train into Glasgow to school and being amused at the sign at Pollokshields East which said 'Alight here for the Transport Museum'. I thought it strange they used the word 'Alight' instead of the more commonly heard 'Get off'.
