I have said many times that this must be FT myth even though it still gets said from time to time. Never had a problem booking this seat.

Personally sit in 2B/C for most of my mainline dom flts. When sitting in 2C, I always look at the person in 2B. Trust me, you would not want them or me to be a FAM. Old, overweight, or both. And sometimes sleeping.

Of course, it’s possible I am never on flts with FAM’s but that seems a stretch IMO.
2b is generally my favorite seat too and I've never been bumped. I've seen people who I think might be Marshals and they are usually in front row. I don't want to stereotype people but certain builds, clothing and haircuts fit a certain stereotype. The shoes too, except I know many people who travel in more comfortable black dress shoes (rockports and such).
