The flight deck have always done the seats for takeoff/landing announcement with all other airlines that I've flown with. This makes more sense imo, the cabin crew can never otherwise be 100% when takeoff is going to commence.
Ideally you want the crew to be seated before entering the runway- there's no reason why the purser/CSD etc etc can't tell the crew to sit down. The 3 bongs is the final indicator that takeoff will be imminent (or at least that the aircraft has been told to position and hold)- they can then (in your words) therefore be 100% certain that the aircraft is going to commence the takeoff shortly after that sound has been heard. I don't see in any way how the system is problematic, or worse than any other airline's? In fact, I'd suggest it makes more sense.
