The examples of carriers providing a room are typically done as part of a marketing effort to get people to fly through their hub and suffer the inconvenience of a poor connection.

But, there is neither an obligation nor a reason to provide anything. You step off the first flight, wait for the second flight and off you go. If you don't want to wander, book (and pay for) a hotel.
