Right so my NCL-LHR flight has been delayed 2 hours (we don't know why yet, it left the stand at LHR and then went back again. Am I supposed to have a rant?) so at least I have the time to get this all written up.

So using the tram at EDI airport in connection with BA flights.

Directions:

BA at EDI tends to use gate 13 and nearby for LGW and LHR services, gate 5 and thereabouts for LCY. LCY always involves a short walk across the apron, LGW and LHR very rarely do, they are generally jetty connections. Occasionally, on the last flight in gets a bus gate but I haven't had that for a while now.

On a conventional arrival you get brought into the main departures concourse, then you follow the exit signs to opposite gate 13 and down the escalator (also there's a lift), turn the corner and you are then landside. Baggage reclaim is also landside at this point. You turn another corner rightwards and there is the main door out of EDI and into the bracing fresh air, were it not for all the smokers huddling around.

If you leave the aircraft by bus it is a little different since they take you to a door which goes straight out to the luggage collection area (i.e. landside) and you don't enter the main concourse.

To get to the trams, leave the main door and turn left. On the right are the local buses, but we are turning left. Keep going, past the Glasgow bus stance, and on to the tram area.

Oooh, the tram has arrived:

Timings:

So to spell them all out

I was the first to leave the aircraft, helped by being in 1D.

Touchdown at Turnhouse: 00:00.00
Arrival at EDI gate 13: 04:04.6 (4 minutes and 4 seconds after touchdown)
Leave aircraft door 1L: 05:55.8
Exit airport, so this is by the local bus stop: 07:25.8
Arrive tram station: 09:16.1

So from aircraft doors open to the tram station is 3 minutes 20 seconds or thereabouts
