Honestly, I don't think there is anything special in the the entire city of Manila! Don't get me wrong, I love the Philippines and its people, but I'm always passing through the city onto some fantastic dive destination, and sometimes fairly rustic accomodations. So Makati always seemed like a bit of luxury on my way to/from home, but I was happy when something opened so close to the airport (since the traffic can be maddening), with some really nice bars and restaurants.
Last time I was there the entire area around The Marriott (and the airport) was one big construction site.
Maybe its finished by now?
There is also a new Hyatt that is supposed to be open soon (or maybe already?).
Dream City or something like that?
