I totally don't understand how people are so incredibly busy, and their time is so incredibly valuable, that a few clicks here and there that nets you thousands of hilton points or something could be a waste of time.

We've heard your story before, but I believe that your earnings are an aberation. Most people don't earn anywhere near that much. And if you are spending 2-3 minutes clicking around for a 50-cent reward, then the time investment is a factor. If $25 in e-rewards buys you $10 worth of Hilton points (and I am being
very generous on the valuation), then each e-mail is "worth" about 20 cents. Compound that with the fact that the e-mails are very infrequent and it is easy to see why many people are less than enthusiastic.
