I'm wondering what peoples' opinions are on the best way to get from the SF Bay area to Hawaii in style. A direct flight to LIH would be preferred but it's not a deal breaker.

So far I have looked at HA, but their idea of a first-class seat is 18.5 inches wide. At that point I may as well just save the money and fly economy. So, that's out.

Another option is AS, but, while their seats are wide enough (21), they have less pitch than you'd expect in a "premium economy" product (36). Someone reclining back into my face is not "first class".

I keep hearing rumors that VX will soon start flying to Hawaii, but, nothing yet.

I'm just wondering what other peoples' favorite airlines for this route are. Basically I want to pick an airline so I can start collecting miles...
