Can a Mosaic member cancel themself from a reservation but keep the other pax?

Sorry if this has been addressed but couldn't find it via search. My question is this:

As a mosaic member, I can cx an itinerary that I am a passenger on without any penalty, for myself and anyone else on my reservation. If I make a reservation for myself and my daughter, can I cancel MY seat without penalty but keep her seat?

My daughter flies jetblue back and forth to school, but often doesn't know her schedule of finals, etc., until later and since the trips are at peak times, the rates are often astronomical vs booking early. So I was thinking that if I book multiple flights for her and me together, early enough to get good fares and guessing at dates, then once we know the exact date she needs I could cancel the entire itinerary for the wrong dates without penalty (due to Mosaic status) but I would also have to cancel my flight on the correct date but keep hers active. Anyone know if this is possible?
