Had a great one night stay here last week. Booked using points and when I checked in was not overly impressed with the room I was allocated on the 10th floor which was smaller than the room I got last time, terrible view and had construction noise issues. So I called to see if another room was available though I was not optimistic because I had checked online and the hotel was oddly sold out (turns out there was a big event/function). Anyway I was offered to do the cash & points upgrade to the West Side Suite for just $400 as opposed to the $600 detailed upthread. I asked if I could check out the suite first and can tell you within about 10 seconds of walking in I said "I will take it" lol. Huge 1000 square foot + suite on 22nd floor overlooking midtown with views of the park. Was absolutely spectacular! Also had a great time at the bar with Steve making some cool cocktails. We had him try to recreate the fabulous Mad Hatter from the Park Hyatt Vienna list but it didn't come out right but he was going to have the manager contact them the next day to get the recipe so looking forward to trying that next time and seeing if they get it right

Speaking of which managed to snag a $489 rate mid week next month, using the IBM code but AAA was only $518. Will apply my last 2014 DSU to try the regular park suite. Two nights this time and by then the pool should have re-opened.

I still think the service is patchy at this place. All the talk upthread of the wonderful doormen... well they always seem to be doing something else when i arrive and I am pretty much my own doorman. But the hard product is in my view exceptionally good here if you can avoid the base level stuff.
