Hi Don: When I closed a bunch of accounts, my score went down because I closed some of the oldest one's I hadn't used in years.

When I started reading fatwallet.com (finance section) I learned from the experts--don't close accounts. It's too late for me but there's no good reason to close accounts unless you're asked to when applying for a home loan or similar.
