I'd recommend to call the hotel to confirm.

I was away on business staying at a HIX last year and I was able to associate my IHG membership with my co-worker's reservation so i was able to get credit for the stay for both rooms.

She paid for it under her own CC, so I didnt get the spend points on my IHG CC, but I did get ~8,000 from her room.

Also, another instance, I reserved and paid for a room, and my friends I was staying with were going to arrive before me. So I called to add one of their names to the reservation so they can check in ahead of time, no problem.
