From my experience, I would recommend that you contact AA — presuming these are the miles you used — 24 hours before the flight, if possible, if you do not receive written confirmation (e.g., e-mail) that the flight has been ticketed.
While booking an award flight over the phone on a different oneworld partner in the Middle East, the AAgent told me the flight had been ticketed. Although, there was some computer issue where the fees changed, so it never ticketed. AA never contacted me of the change, so after arriving at the airport, I wasn't aware until the airline ticket agent said my name was listed but no ticket was issued. The airline ticket agent closed four minutes before an AAgent could ticket the award flight over the phone, thus I had to cancel the ticket and make a new reservation. Learning my lesson the first time, I called AA and sure enough the same issue happened. Thankfully, the AAgent was able to address it before I returned to the airport and the ticket was confirmed for the next available flight (seven hours after the previously booked flight).
